I think an honest and frank debate is needed regarding baseball in the North & that doesn`t just mean BBF bashing. We all have problems running clubs; small player pool, lack of funding, too much travelling etc. Therefore we need to work out how to solve our problems (without blame)! |

That is true, but we can`t just use "told you so...". One of the reasons i left was because they didnt give their kids a chance and i didnt agree with it and now look at the mess. So i`m as bad as anyone as i should have done something about it when i was there, but it was difficult to tell Nesbitt to do anything when i was there. |

Rob, of course its not just about forfiets did I say it was? Don`t put words in my mouth, I was just reporting what happened, didn`t have time to comment on it this morning. I`ve played in manchester v liverpool derbies for 12 years so I think I now what it means, I just wonder of they`ll be back next year. However any team with no junior section, no second team and very little room for rookies is going to struggle when established players start to leave, so its going to be hard. |

Is that all that matters Roger, that we get the forfeit wins? I think not. Baseball is almost dead, how about a voice of support? The forfeits mean nothing. |

Guys, just saw this on bsuk.
An end-of-season baseball tournament will be held in Bolton on the weekend of September 15-16, hosted by the Bolton Blaze. Teams will be charged £25 or £30 for the tournament to cover the cost of umpires and will need to bring their own baseballs. Games will be limited to five innings. With the possibility of three fields available, the tournament should be able to accommodate a reasonable number of teams. More details can be found on the website www.northernleaguebaseball.co.uk set up by the club.

Just looking at the fixtures and this sunday the English N Div1 heads north of the border:
Sunday 8th July
A's @ GBA (Glasgow)
Bolton @ Strathclyde (Glasgow)
Strikers @ Devils (Edin'gh)
Humber @ Eagles (Edin'gh)
Strikers @ Eagles (Edin'gh)
A's @ GBA (Glasgow)
Bolton @ Strathclyde (Glasgow)
Strikers @ Devils (Edin'gh)
Three things, first that must be a typo, strikers with 3 games and humber with 1 Second do edin'gh have 2 fields to host 2 away teams? And finally the weather has been cr@p for weeks, what chance these games are all on

Guys I think it's just a simple mistake! The A's are playing the Bladerunners at Sheff single game & the Eagles are playing the Strikers at home single game! I will check that with the league & the other teams however! I have spoken to Damien Kilkenny regarding moving the Eagles's fixture from the 22nd to the 15th & he said it shouldn't be a problem! |

Fixtures for A's on bsuk also has:
Sun 22-Jul 14:00 Barnsley @ A's
Sun 22-Jul 14:00 A's @ Sheffield
As its MBC v both Shefield teams why not suggest both (or all 4?) matches at our place, we can set up both diamonds and make a day of it. |

Fixtures for eagles on bsuk has:
Sun 22-Jul 14:00 Eagles @ Sheffield
Sun 22-Jul 14:00 Barnsley @ Eagles
That doesn't seem right, so you might want to check it out. |

Kairm, here is the MBC ump schedule from 2004: www.manchesterbaseballclub.co.uk/snrs/umpschedule2004.html, this is what you need to create. Email it to me and I'll publish on the website. |

The timetable is random & half the people don't umpire anymore! We need a schedule specific to our club. On occassions when there is someone down to umpire who is still alive then we need to check they are going to come! |

Karim, the primary thing you can do mate as umpiring co-ordinator is get together with all the qualified umpires & get a schedule done for the season. Because tomorrow there is guy umpiring your games that should be playing for me at Bolton. Doing this would be the best thing you could do for the club right now! We have an up to date website, but there are plenty of things we haven't got or haven't done that we need to, lets all concentrate on these things, then we can build on these foundations. We have fundamentals issue at the club such as subs payments, registerations etc to deal with first. Your thoughts, theories & ideas are all welcome we just need to get things sorted out in a logical order, or we are putting the cherry on top before we have made the cake! |

>roj, there is alot of people who would love to make the website because they love website design and would not charge nor make the club feel like they are doing them a favour for doing so.
Karim, then let them stand at the next AGM as webmaster, I'm not stopping anyone taking over, we're a democractic club, but we have a procedure for getting things done, so try reading the constitution and approaching the committee with you ideas, not just complaining on here about other people not doing things you want done. In the meantime as I keep saying if you want something published on here then email it me, with all this interest I expect you'll be sending a game report and photos from tomorow's game. |

I thought I'd have a look at some of the other great sites, so I looked at birmingham's and I saw some logos top right of b'ham v mbc, but all the news articles on their homepage haven't been updated since 2nd march, they don't even say which league they will be in, just maybe north or south. That says it all when you talk about websites, its not about making something look good on day one its having something regularly updated, so people will come back. Which is why I will wait and see how the new bbfbaseball.com gets on, it probably the 4th such site set up in the last few years, and the others didn't last more than a few weeks so I think its right to wait and see, but as its been mentioned here anyway its hardly being censored. |
