It`s almost time!.....The smell of the grass grows stronger......in just a few weeks the air will resonate to the sound of leather on leather.....wood on leather......there`ll be aching muscles....new cuts and bruises....stiff limbs....new smiles and memories......stepping into the batter`s box, diving to a catch, and taking a base.....watching the ball as it flies away from you...oh..the thrill of the grass..=8-){----{ |

This guy walks into a bar with his golden retriever.
``Hey, can I get a drink on the house if my dog talks for you?``
``Dogs can`t talk, pal. But if you can prove to me yours does,
I`ll give you a drink. If not, I get to kick your butt.``
``Okay,`` says the guy. He turns to his dog. ``Okay fella.
Tell me -- what is on top of a house?``
``Roof!`` The man turns and smiles at the bartender.
``THAT ain`t talking! Any dog can bark!``
``Okay boy. Tell me -- how does sandpaper feel?``
``Ruff!"
``What the hell you tryin` to pull mister?``
``Okay, okay," says the man. "One more question please. Okay buddy,
tell me -- who is the greatest ball player who ever lived?``
"Ruth."
The bartender beats the heck out of the guy and throws onto the
sidewalk outside of the bar, then throws the dog out next to him.
The dog stands up and looks at the guy.
"Geez. Maybe I shoulda said Ty Cobb?"

Well its nearly here, I have booked the first training session for 11am on Sunday 9th Feb on the astroturf at the Armitage Centre (behind Owen`s Park in Fallowfield, Mosely Rd, just of Wilmslow Rd). C u there. Email me if you want directions (its where we were last year). |

Hmmmm....My feelings on this issue are complex..and I think swearing is banned on here lol! I feel the Braves acted badly not giving him what he asked for.....but I also think Tom Glavine should have remained loyal to his fans and negotiated a deal that kept him in a Braves` uniform - how many millions does he need? To go to the Mets....well that`s unforgivable! TG is a Hall of Fame pitcher (first ballot) he is the best lefty since Warren Spahn......but he will be ..and SHOULD be booed when he plays in Atlanta..anything else just wouldn`t be baseball...so farewell Tommy...may your fingers bleed and may you die like a dog..........but I loved you as my favourite pitcher to watch once...sob...sob =8-({-----{ |

Hmmm...no they don`t....you see the METS have a nemesis - we have ours...it seems to be Florida for some bizarre reason (scarier now they have Pudge!) - and it`s Chipper - he kills the METS..in fact so does Maddux...so you see the METS have to get past us to win...and therein lies the problem - remember that the season eas over by May in the NL East last year....it`ll be over by August this year....mark my words...I haven`t been wrong about the Braves winning the NL East before!!! So don`t `wail` Jona, but your METS need a lot more than TG to beat the boys from the land of the peach...=8-){---{ |

Sorry, Barry, but IL play has nothing to do with it - a game or two is neither here nor there - with the new schedules the Braves play the METS so many times through the year (about 6 series as opposed to 2 against the Yankees) that what really counts is the teams in one`s division now...and let`s face it the METS don`t stand a chance! We all have nemesis teams. Sometimes they might not even be good teams - Look at the Braves` nemesis...Florida!!! But the Braves manage to beat everyone else so many times and Florida are so poor that it isn`t a problem for us. The METS aren`t so lucky. In order for them to win the NL East they MUST beat the Braves head to head.....and you know what?...........they have never managed to consistently do that!.....a decade of NL East titles is testament to that.....oh and er.....chalk up another one for this year too! =8-){---{ |
